Quantico Personal and Professional Development: Transition Readiness Program

Conduct Initial Counseling (IC) no later than 365 days from EAS:

1. Locate “Initial Counseling Documents” on the right side of the page. Download and complete the required pre-work.

Required pre-work includes the Individual Transition Plan (ITP), Service Member Information form, a screenshot of your e-form (DD2648), a copy of your Joint Service Transcript (JST), a copy of your Verification of Military Experience (VMET) and a screen shot of proof of creation of a DS logon.

2. Once completed, send ALL pre-work to your Unit Transition Coordinator (UTC). Your UTC will then send your completed pre-work to your advisor along with a request for an IC appointment.

If you are not sure who your assigned UTC is, please contact your S-1.

3. Once pre-work/appointment request is received, your advisor will send you a confirmation email with details pertaining to your appointment.

4. Attend your IC appointment: During IC appointment you will discuss your transition plan and determine your TRS requirements, TIER assignment, and track (if required).

Following completion of your appointment, your advisor will provide you with an email to serve as your proof of completion.

Conduct Capstone Review no later than 120 days prior to EAS:

Once you have completed TRS, your UTC will schedule your capstone appointment with your advisor. It is advisable that your UTC include your service member information form with your request for your Capstone appointment. You and your advisor will review the career readiness standards and discuss your plans for transition.

Capstone pre-work will be assigned based on service members TIER level determined during IC appointment.

Conduct Pre-Separation Brief no later than 365 days from your EAS:

Your advisor will schedule you for the Pre-Separation Brief during your IC appointment.

The Pre-Separation Brief may be in-person or virtually via Adobe Connect. Your Advisor will inform you of your options at your initial counseling appointment. You will receive an email either containing a link which will allow you access into the class or the address where the briefing will be held.

Once Pre-Separation Brief is complete, UTC’s will receive confirmation of completion for all service members who attended. Once the UTC receives this confirmation, they will register the service member for TRS/ETRS/Retirement Seminar.

Conduct Commander’s Verification no later than 90 days prior to EAS:

Following completion of your Capstone Review, contact your UTC to schedule a meeting with your CO/designee:

Your CO/designee will validate your overall preparedness to transition and will conduct any warm-handovers to services/resources as necessary based on your transition plan. Upon completion, the CO/designee will digitally sign your e-form (DD2648). You will need to provide a copy of your completed/signed e-form to your UTC immediately. You will also need to provide your completed/signed e-form to IPAC in order to receive your DD214.

Attend the Transition Readiness Seminar (including Retirement & ETRS) no later than 180 days prior to EAS:

You CANNOT BE REGISTERED for TRS without completing IC and Pre-Separation Counseling first.

TRS, ETRS and the Retirement Seminar can ONLY be scheduled by the UTC. Service members cannot register themselves. NOTE: Depending on the assessment made during your IC, you may be required to attend an additional TRS track. If it is determined you are not required to attend additional tracks, you may still elect to enroll in one or more tracks. If you decide to attend a track, you will attend that track on days 4&5 of your scheduled TRS.

Attend TRS/Retirement/ETRS:

Virtual TRS: An email confirmation, with instructions and link to access the TRS, will be sent out 5 days before the TRS start date.
